How We Do It

BlueArrow is able to capture a digital sample from an audio source —it could be radio, TV, internet, mobile phone, satellite or cable broadcasts, or HDTV – almost anywhere. The sample could be merely a short segment from the middle of a song. The music could be surrounded by so much background noise that most of us would never even realize it was there at all. No matter – BlueArrow knows it’s there, and knows what it is.

Fingerprinting
Using a patented algorithm, unique identifying features are mapped for all content.

Matching
Landmark continually compares these prints against program material gleaned from media broadcasts monitored around the clock.

Logging
Each fingerprint match delivers a title, identifying the exact time, date and source of the audio. This raw data is aggregated, analyzed and quickly delivered to Landmark clients via customized reports.

How It Works

The basic concept behind BlueArrow comes from a timeless, elegant system: the human ear and brain. Like your ears, our infrastructure collects information through sound waves. Your brain (just like our technology) specializes in complex pattern recognition. Once you’ve zeroed in on a specific pattern, it’s quickly matched against millions of other patterns stored in your memory (or ours). Of course, Landmark’s ever-expanding database stores more audio information than any human brain ever will.

In both cases, learning helps the system become even more effective over time.
